One Village Counseling understands that 'it takes a village,' and recognizes we can't do this alone. We believe healing is not a solitary path and provide an array of individualized services.
Somatic & BOdy-Based psychotherapy
Our therapists are trained in evidence-based trauma treatments such as EMDR and Somatic Experiencing. We help clients process past experiences safely, re-establish trust in themselves and others, and regulate the nervous system for greater emotional balance. We integrate the body into the healing process by helping clients reconnect with sensations, release stored stress, and build embodied awareness. Somatic work supports lasting transformation beyond talk therapy alone.
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-based approach to healing trauma and chronic stress. Rather than focusing only on thoughts or memories, SE helps clients gently reconnect with physical sensations, regulate their nervous systems, and release stored survival responses like fight, flight, or freeze. It’s a powerful, non-invasive method for restoring a sense of safety, presence, and vitality—especially for those whose past experiences feel “stuck” in the body.
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps people process and heal from traumatic experiences, distressing memories, or stuck emotional patterns. By using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping), EMDR supports the brain in reprocessing overwhelming events in a safe and structured way—so they no longer feel as activating or intrusive. It’s especially effective for PTSD, anxiety, grief, and early attachment wounds.
Infant & Child-Parent Therapy
Child-parent therapy is an interactive, play-based approach in which we meet with you and your young child together. Sometimes, it's hard for parents to make sense of their child's cues and behaviors, resulting in tension and frustration for both the parent and child. These sessions help strengthen the bond between parent and child, support emotional development, and reduce behavioral challenges. Tantrums, hitting, difficulty listening, or anxiety may also be affecting family life and your child's ability to participate in group settings or community activities. Child-parent therapy, such as PCIT, can help you discover the meaning behind your child's behaviors along with strategies to respond. This can result in strengthened self-esteem and relationships for you and your child.
We also offer parent consultations and educational support. During these consults we develop specific and concrete strategies to use and develop a deeper understanding of the difficulty at hand in order to address your child and family's needs.
Play Therapy
Children communicate through the language of play. Young children's rapidly developing minds are processing new information everyday and it can be challenging for them to make sense of it all. As much as we may try to protect our children from the hardships of life, sometimes loss, transitions, disruptions, and exposure to traumatic situations do occur. Children need a neutral, safe space to make sense of their thoughts and feelings and discover their inner resiliency.
We provide an array of play therapy tools and materials, such as the sandtray, for children to utilize and help guide them towards making sense of confusing situations. Sandtray therapy offers children—a creative, nonverbal way to explore feelings, memories, and inner experiences that can be hard to express with words. Using miniature figures and symbols in a tray of sand, clients can build scenes that reflect their internal world. This process helps access deep emotions, promote insight, and support nervous system regulation. It's especially helpful for children who process more easily through imagery, movement, or metaphor.
Parents are often asked to participate during this therapy in order to learn ways to promote further healing in the home environment.
Perinatal and postpartum mental health
We support individuals and couples during pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. Our therapists are trained in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) and help clients navigate identity shifts, relationship changes, birth trauma, and the emotional intensity of becoming a parent. Whether your goal is to overcome grief and/or loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, or the myriad of other experiences that can manifest at this time in life, we can work together to help you develop the self-compassion, connection, and reflection needed to increase your sense of well-being and relationships. Depression & Anxiety are the most common complications in pregnancy and postpartum. They affect 1 in 7 parents.
We also support the unique experience of the non-birthing parent, who may feel uncertain, disconnected, or overwhelmed during the perinatal period. Therapy offers a space to process those feelings, build confidence in their parenting role, and deepen their bond with both partner and child.
Therapy can help you:
Manage postpartum anxiety, depression, or overwhelm
Process a traumatic birth experience or perinatal loss
Navigate changes in identity and partnership
Build confidence and self-trust in parenting
Create secure, attuned relationships with your baby

Couples & Co-parenting Therapy
Relationships are living systems—they grow, shift, and sometimes struggle. At One Village Counseling, we provide supportive, insight-oriented couples to help partners reconnect, communicate more effectively, and navigate life’s challenges together.
Couples come to us for many reasons:
Feeling stuck in recurring patterns or conflict
Loss of intimacy or emotional connection
Transitioning to parenthood or navigating fertility
Recovering from a rupture or betrayal
Healing past relational trauma
Strengthening communication and trust
We also provide co-parenting counseling. This type of therapy provides structured support for parents who are raising children together—whether partnered, separated, or divorced. We help co-parents improve communication, reduce conflict, and develop collaborative strategies that center the emotional well-being of their child. Through a nonjudgmental and child-focused lens, we guide parents in navigating boundaries, transitions, and shared responsibilities so they can build a more stable and respectful parenting dynamic.
Our therapists create a nonjudgmental space where both partners can feel heard and understood. We help you slow down reactive cycles, access deeper emotional needs, and work toward shared goals—whether that’s rebuilding trust, deepening intimacy, or simply finding new ways to connect in daily life.
We work with couples of all identities, orientations, and relationship structures, and integrate approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment theory, and somatic and trauma-informed work.
Whether you’re in crisis or simply seeking greater depth, couples therapy offers a path toward more resilient, fulfilling connection.
